SRALL CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT
The San Ramon American Little League Board Members would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child(ren) to the SRALL.

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to outline our goals for the season as well as establish some expectations of all involved. Little League Baseball presents many challenging situations and a number of opportunities to develop the skills of strong character, courage, and loyalty in our league and in our community

As parents and coaches, we are in an excellent position to influence the development of our youth by acting as positive role models on and off the field.

We ask that you and your child(ren) read the following and acknowledge your agreement before continuing with the registration process.

EXPECTATIONS OF PARENTS / GUARDIANS:
Make every effort to…
*Attend my child’s games,
*Be a supportive parent/guardian for the manager, coach and team,
*Cheer for all of the players on both teams,
*Be a positive role model and demonstrate good sportsmanship,
*Be supportive when my child is successful or when struggling for success,
*Lead by example by respecting umpires, opposing teams and other fans,
*Play and practice the skills of the game with my child,
*Be positive and supportive whether the team wins or loses, and
*Remember that the game is for the players

EXPECTATIONS OF MANAGERS AND COACHES:
Make every effort to…
*Have the understanding, patience, and capacity to work with young people, and reflect an understanding of the age group being supervised,
*Lead by example and show respect for the judgment and the position of authority held by umpires,
*Instill in my players a respect for the authority of adult leaders in the league,
*“Honor the Game” and show a willingness to play by the rules and adhere to their intent, instilling in the players the same respect,
*Be polite, positive and fair to all of the players,
*Be patient and remember that players improve at different rates, and
*Remember that the game is for the players

EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS:
Make every effort to…
*Listen to my manager, coaches and parents,
*Always do my best,
*Hustle whenever I can,
*Be willing to help your teammates, manager and coaches,
*Be a good friend to my teammates,
*Be a good sport and cheer for my teammates, and
*Have fun

Finally, remember, children playing at this level will have varying skill levels. Let’s allow them to make their mistakes - and hopefully learn from them - but always be there with positive support to lift their spirits. If we eliminate the negative, the children will have an opportunity to play without any unnecessary pressures and will learn the value of sportsmanship.

The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good
citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these "six pillars of character." (Arizona Sports Summit Accord)

I, therefore, agree:
1. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youths, not adults.
2. Forcing my child(ren) to participate in sports may result in a negative outcome
3. I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child(ren) or the safety of others.
4. I will learn the rules of the game and the policies of the league.
5. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child(ren) and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, officials, and spectators at every game, practice, or other sporting event
6. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of un-sportsmanlike conduct with any official, manager, coach, player, or parent
such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
7. I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well being of the athletes.
8. I will teach my child(ren) to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
9. I will demand that my child(ren) treat other players, managers, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, gender, or ability.
10. I will teach my child(ren) that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child(ren) will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
11. I will praise my child(ren) for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child(ren) feel like a winner every time.
12. I will never ridicule or yell at my child(ren) or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
13. I will emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit my child(ren) over winning. I will also de-emphasize games
and competition in the lower age groups.
14. I will promote the emotional and physical well being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child(ren) to win.
15. I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront managers or coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
16. I will demand a sports environment for my child(ren) that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
17. I will refrain from coaching my child(ren) or other players during games unless I am an official coach.

I also agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, that I will be subject to consequences, which could include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Verbal warning by official, manager, coach, and/or league,
2. Written warning by league,
3. Game suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file by organizations involved,
4. Game suspension of manager or coach,
5. Season suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file by organizations involved,

San Ramon American Little League supports a “ZERO TOLERANCE” policy and will strictly enforce this Code of Conduct. Complaints regarding this Code of Conduct shall be filed with the applicable Division Director. The matter shall then be referred to the Disciplinary Committee and ultimately sent to the Board of Directors for action.
