Game Summary Behind flawless infield defense from Cameron C, Eric S, Travis P and Ted S and the strong right arm of pitcher Matt B, the Yankees shut out the Rangers 3-0. Balich went the distance, notching eight strikeouts and giving up only two hits and two walks. The Yankees scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first. Yankee leadoff batter Eric S laced a ground ball single to right. Travis P reached on an infield error and Matt B followed with a bloop single to right to drive in both runners. In the fourth, Powell F smoked a line drive home run, his fourth of the season. Ranger pitcher Michael M went the distance, holding the Yankees to five hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. Ranger Dan W stroked a solid double to the wall in the fifth.
