A strange game that turned into a crowd pleaser. Both teams came off of victories the night before.

Chris Hutchinson opened the scoring on a beautiful dodge and dump from Nick Tierney. The Lakers tied the game with 2:30 left in the quarter. Issaquah answered immediately as Tierney pushed a quick transition after a scramble from the face-off. He found freshman, Nick Yaap for a great catch and finish. Then, Matt Robson continued his knack for being in the right spot at the right times, collecting another loose ball off a save and finishing.

Lake Oswego took a penalty two minutes into the 2nd quarter. Issaquah got the defense to rotate and David Campi skipped a pass to Tierney up top. Tierney ripped it top shelf for a 4-1 lead. The Lakers answered, catching a bit of a lucky bounce as a low angle shot hit a defender's stick, deflecting past the keeper. But, Chris Hutchnson continued his stellar weekend. as he corralled an offside feed and was able to finish in tight cutting high to low.

Lake Oswego controlled much of the next 3 minutes, but Issaquah held. A stout Laker attackman drove and the much smaller Garrin Hammermaster slid and stood him up on GLE. Garrin's stick and shoulder were mangled, but he saved an almost sure goal. With 6 seconds left in the half, Jon Matusiefsky won a loose ball behind GLE and found Hutchinson all alone in front. He found the net again to register his first hat-trick of the season. 6-2 Issaquah at half.

Then things got real interesting. Credit Lake Oswego, they weren't about to roll over on their home turf. The Lakers scored 45 into the half and just kept coming. They had Issaquah on their heels the entire period. Issaquah continually failed to clear the ball and the Lakers kept finding the net. They scored 5 goals in a 6 minute span to take the lead. Issaquah finally touched the ball on offense for the first time all quarter and promptly threw it out of bounds. With about 2 minutes left, Issaquah defended well and forced the ball down behind the cage. Garrett Johnson had the ball clamped, but Issaquah failed to clear out the Laker attackmen. As Johnson lifted his stick, the Lakers poked it loose and scored the open net goal. They scored again 30 seconds later. Was this really happening? Issaquah surrendered 7 goals in the period, as many as it had total in any game all year.

From bad to worse, Issaquah took a stick penalty to start the 4th quarter. Down 3 goals, man-down for a minute, held without a shot in the 3rd quarter...it seemed Issaquah had completely fallen apart. Yet, the defense held, killing off the penalty, allowing Issaquah to stage its own comeback.

Jon Matusiefsky managed to catch a feed while fighting through two sticks to get Issaquah back on the scoreboard. The next 4 minutes saw Craigh Cornelius all over the field winning grounballs, riding hard and scoring two unassisted goals. His second goal tied the game with 5:38 remaining.

Under 3 minutes left, David Campi drove from 'x' and got wrapped around the neck. He managed to hold onto the ball and found Matusiefsky. With little angle and a pile in front, Jon again unleased a behind-the-back shot that found its way through the screen. Issaquah was back in front!

Issaquah thwarted Lake Oswego's final push and the Lakers took a penalty as Issaquah cleared the ball. Issaquah ran out the clock and secured the win.

A great team win. Freshman defender, Riley Gervais, continues to step it up and had an overall great performance. Despite the troubles in the 3rd quarter, Nick Tierney and Chris Hutchinson were flying around the field doing all they could to keep Issaquah's spirits in it and it showed in the 4th quarter comeback.
