Playoff Loss (24 - 32) at Tucker's Ice Cream Gladiators (Villadelgado)

League Summary:
In the opening tip of this 7th grade boys championship game, Spartans (6-6) started strong going on a 9-0 run to open the quarter led by Joseph Camicia (seven rebounds) and James LaFollette who scored 10 points each. Michael Perri had three rebounds, three steals and an assist. Matt Pula pulled down eight rebounds. Nicolas DeCastro (four points) and Jordan Jacobs also played hard and pulled one rebound each. After the Spartans nine point lead, Gladiator's (11-1) Coach Ed Villadelgado called time out to calm down his players. They responded by tying the game at halftime, and that seemingly gave the Gladiators the momentum. Bobby Johnson led the team with 12 points, four blocks, seven rebounds and two assists. Point guard John Tupasi had 10 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Trent Yee and Jake Paredes both hit 3-pointers. Jonathan Mah, Zack Sherak, Ollie Cunningham, Lucas Howard, DJ Brantley and Troy Tam each contributed two points. It was a heart breaking loss for the Spartans. The night before they upset one of the top teams of the league, the Warriors (9-2), with Joseph Camicia converting a bucket with five seconds left in the game. The Gladiators, who always played hard no matter what the score was, trusted each other on the court by playing team basketball every game proved to be the recipe to success.
