I just wanted to thank all umpires, coaches, players and parents for all their hard work. It was a fun, fair and positive season.

Hopefully the field crews next year will have something to work with at Willard and Bushrod! (a note to the powers that be...)

I have a complaint to make about the home plate umpire in the Astros and D'Backs game on June 10th. I am a player for the Astros and although we won convincingly I wanted to get this complaint out there. In my third AB of the game I came up to the plate and fell behind 0-2, the following pitch was an inside fastball that had inside movement towards me at the end, because I am a lefty batter, and the pitcher was a righty. The ball ended up hitting me above the ankle, which is fine with me, not the pitcher's fault, just a routine walk to first base. But, the ump claimed that I had made no attempt to avoid the ball and that therefore it should be ruled a ball. I found this call ridiculous, because I'm not a psychic and I had no way of knowing this ball would be anything but an inside pitch. I ended up making up for it, as I singled on the next pitch, but it became more and more evident in the inning that the single was crucial as I, and 7 other runs scored. I just hate to think what kind of negative affect it could've had on the team if I had not made it on base due to this umpire. I think it is imperative that there be a rule change that states that any ball hitting any batter in any way, whether or not he tried to step out of the box, should be a free base.

I was concerned with a few aspects of the Astros vs. D'Backs game on Thursday May 25. First of all I thought it was unfortunate that despite a great game played offensively and defensively the Astros were on the bottomside of a one run game. They blew an early lead in the game. But one thing I was unhappy with was that in the 7th, after tying up the game, with a chance to take the lead and be 3 outs away from a win, the Astros had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs. This rally was ruined when the unaware Astro on third thought that the bases were loaded as a walk to the batter occured, and attempted to walk home, he was thrown out, miffing the rally. I was also unhappy that the run that broke the tie in the 7th and won the game for the D'Backs, was a run that should have been called out, as he was clearly out in attempting to steal 2nd, in fact, it was so obvious that the player began to walk towards the dugout, until he stopped with notification that he was safe. Without this run the game could have ended very differently. I was also unhappy with 4 or 5 bad calls that all benefitted the D'Backs and hurt the Astros.
