SPRING 2015 RECREATION SOCCER LEAGUE-KICKEROOS Our recreation league is a developmental league focused on fun, fundamentals, fellowship and faith under the direction of our volunteer coaches with the support of our trained staff and dedicated, certified administrators. Our affiliation with Georgia Soccer and partnership with the Chiefs Futbol Club distinguishes our recreation program through coach licensing and continuing education, parent education seminars, player safety policies, league administrator certifications, player development opportunities and additional resources available to all registered families. Kickeroos is an introductory league for our youngest players (ages 3-4 years as of March 2016). Kickeroos meets on Saturdays only for a one-hour session (at 830 or 930 am) beginning Saturday, March 5. Teams meet weekly through May 21. Players work on fundamentals for the first half of each session and teams have a friendly scrimmage with other teams during the second half of the weekly session. Players should wear non-metal cleats or sneakers and shin guards covered by socks. The league will provide team jerseys. Players may wear any athletic bottom. Kickeroos use a size 3 soccer ball-while the league provides balls, our players love to use their own soccer ball. If you purchase a ball, please make sure it is clearly labelled. Makeups may be scheduled on Sunday afternoons as needed. Parent meeting on Sunday, February 21 at 6:30pm. Please note: Friend requests are accommodated on a first come, first served basis! You may indicate your child's preschool and up to two friends during the registration process--we will do our best to place him/her on a team with a friend or with others from the same preschool. We make every effort to accommodate requests. In the unusual event we cannot place your child on a team with a requested friend, we hope you will welcome the opportunity for him/her to meet new friends in the spirit of fellowship upon which our league is founded. Many enduring friendships were first cemented on our field after never having met before the season began! COACHES NEEDED!! We rely on our wonderful parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and special friends to serve as our Kickeroos coaches. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!! We provide coach training and continuing support to ensure you have all the tools for a great season with your little ones. COACHES receive a $20 discount on their child's fees when they register by January 21.* Coach meeting on Sunday, February 21 at 5:30pm. Georgia Soccer "G" license course will be held on Sunday, February 28 from 1-5pm. All DUMC coaches are strongly encouraged to obtain a minimum G level license. Coach licensing fees are covered by DUMC Sports and Leisure for every registered coach. *Maximum $20 discount per family. We look forward to a great season with your family.
