The A's struck first in the top of the 4th to take a 1-0 lead, but the Yankees scored two in the bottom of the 4th and added 2 more in the 5th to clinch their opener. Ted R made a tremendous throw from 1st to 3rd on a 1-3-5 double play, and Doug C ranged far to his right to spear a liner as the A's made key defensive plays to hold the Yankees scoreless through the 1st 3 innings. Bryce H tripled and scored on Daniel R's single. Ted R's two singles were the A's only other hits against the strong Yankee pitching. Bryce H and Ted R each threw 3 innings, striking out 5. |
