Pelicans Notes:
The Pels came to Willard off a hard loss a day earlier, primed and eager to make some noise, but the game was delayed almost an hour as the games earlier ran long.

Shortly after 7pm, leadoff man Stripes took a ball off his elbow (more later), and came around to score on PopTart's hard single to left. The Astros settled down and answered in the bottom. The mighty Stros batted around, scoring 5 runs with the key hit being a bases clearing double off the wall by Alaska.

With his elbow bothering him severely, Stripes moved to first base and played strong defense for two innings. The pain didn't subside tho, and in the top of the third, he went to the hospital for XRays (status still uncertain).

The Pels took the field in the third with a 5-run deficit and just 8 players, but if any team could fight through that kind of trouble, this is it.

Killer Kyle calmed the Astros bats, allowing individual runs in the 4th and 6th and walking just 3 in 5+ innings of relief. He was helped tremendously by Coolhand Luke, who called a great game and threw out 3 runners on the basepaths. The Pels bats (all 8 of them) were hot all night, with just 5 Pelican strikeouts recorded. The 4th inning was pivotal, as the Pels forced the play and capitalized on a key Astro error to score 5 and take the lead.

All night, the Astros were just one big hit away from taking the game, and the 7th would be no different. Entering the inning they were down 3, but with the top of their lineup due. They scored two and had the tying runner on base with Alaska (3-3 with a double) at the plate. Big Easy, playing short, fought a line drive up the middle to the ground and turned it into a 6-U putout at 2nd base. Killer Kyle nailed the door shut with a strikeout to end the game.
