| Team Summaries | Red Mountain Lions Notes: The Lady Lions opened their season to a hard faught win against a brand new Corona Del Sol Lady Aztec squad. The Lady Lions, plagued by injuries (pinched nerve, fractured foot, bursitis, and bruised ribs), managed to come out firing and immediately put up some goals to start the game off 3-1. Before the first half was done, the lead had jumped to 6-2. Unfortunately, the Lady Lions did not capitalize on this advantage by pressing it home, instead they fell back on their heels and were outscored in the second half to the tune of 7-4. Luckily for the girls they were able to hold off a strong comeback from a frenzied Aztec team and pulled out the win with the final score being 10-9. Maryland transplant Courtney Johnson was vital on draws, dominating them the entire game and strong play by the offense helped secure the win. When the final horn sounded to end play, eight different Lady Lions had pulled the trigger and scored one or more goals. Chantelle Toney was strong on both sides of the ball scoring twice and stopping some intense drives on defense securing her the honor of MVP for the game. Corona Del Sol Aztecs Notes: |
