| Team Summaries | Desert Vista Thunder Notes: On a chilly night at Pecos Park the Saguaro Sabercats stopped by for a rematch of last years semi-final game. Desert Vista was looking for a better outcome this time around! These two teams know each other well after a summer trip to LaJolla and many Saturdays of fall ball together. There would be few surprises in this one. After getting beat by Gilbert the previous week...Desert Vista had something to prove against Saguaro. The game got off to a good start for DV with two goals in the first three minutes from seniors Cody Wood and Gray Morrison. Saguaro quickly answered back with a goal by Devon Ziegler on a great assist from Kyle Angelini. DV midfielder Alex Foley tallied the next goal at the five minute mark but Saguaro fired right back with a laser shot from Cameron Graham. Cody Wood answered back with :44 ticks left in the first quarter to get it back to a two goal lead. The second quarter saw two goals scored by Saguaro...one from 'The Beast' Aaron Adams and the other from Cameron Graham. On the Desert Vista offense...it was all Cody Wood. Wood scored three and assisted on one in the second and DV took a commanding eight to four lead going into the half. The third quarter was all about defense for the Thunder. Goalie Chris Roszak was perfect between the pipes. Senior D-man Blake Gantt played an inspired game after missing practice all week. Gantt went straight from the Urgent Care to a head on collision with Aaron Adams, Chris Petkas, Kyle Angelini and Cameron Graham. Gantt and the rest of the D- stepped up to the challenge! The Sabercats 'big four' were blanked in the third and scored only one more time the rest of the way. The third ended with DV up by six and from there on the game went into cruise control. The forth saw only four goals scored...one by DV and three by the Cats. Hats off to the both teams for playing this one with key players banged up, most notably Ike Lundell.
