Chandler Wolves Notes:
The beginning of the game saw Chandler take control, dominating possession and having numerous scoring opportunities. However, the game reamined scoreless for seven minutes until Andrew Hibdon dodged from the wing and bounced one past the Desert Mountain goalie. After that, Chandler turned it up a notch and really started firing shots. Mighty-mite attackman Eric Nelson notched two goals before leaving the game with an injury in the middle of the second quarter. The first was set up on a nice play from X by Kyle Kapron and the second was set up by Hibdon. Hibdon notched his second assist with a picture perfect feed to Tory Weissert whose left-handed quick-stick found the back of the net. Midway through the second quarter, Chandler lead 4-0 and seemed in total command.

A Desert Mountain timeout briefly turned the tables. With Los Lobos de Chandler relaxing, the other Wolves quickly scored two transition goals. Chandler got control back towards the end of the period and their other micro-stud, Anthony LaFlam, put in his first of two right before the half on a feed from Marty Gove.

The early part of the second half saw Chandler continue to put on the pressure. Kyle Kapron and Abel Haro initiated numerous scoring chances, but dropped balls and great goaltending by Mike Majidi kept the Wolves from pulling ahead by more than a 7-2 spread.

After that Desert Mountain took total command of the game. Their first midfield line of Brett Klein, Chase Foley and Chase McKendry won every faceoff and gobbled up every ground ball. All of sudden, Desert Mountain looked like the team with the 5-goal lead. The young Desert Mountain defensive corps tightened the strings and all of sudden Chandler couldn't find an open look. For the rest of the game Desert Mountain dominated the time of possession. With players going down with injuries, sticks breaking on the field and numerous mental mistakes, it looked like the wheels might start coming off the wagon for Chandler.

Once again, it was their all-star goalie, Benjamin Harvey, who came to the rescue, keeping Desert Mountain's comeback from gaining too much speed. While DM chipped away one goal at a time behind their top middie line and their attack group of Taylor Mitchell, Brian Melling, Konner Klein and Alex Beauchamp, Harvey made a number of saves to keep things from getting out of hand. Chandler defenseman, Joe Preston, managed to keep DM's top threat, Melling, relatively silent, but Mitchell gave the Wolves fits. DM's ground ball dominance started to set up a number of transition opportunities.

In the end, time ran out on Desert Mountain, whose comeback ended up one goal short. A defensive stand spearheaded by Abel Haro, Ian Griesbacher, Clayton Chu, Jeff Ryan and Joey Wussler, held Desert Mountain in check for the final minute and Chandler escaped with a 7-6 victory.
