Barons - Giants games have all been high energy / high scoring slugfests and this one was no different. Lucas had a case of the slippery cleats on GGA‘s mound, struggled to find the zone early, and the Barons made him pay with a huge 6-run first inning. But he stayed focused, found his stride and showed great poise after the initial onslaught. Javi, who apparently loves pitching off GGA’s mound, threw two quality innings for the save. Both Giants pitchers showed a lot of mental toughness against a very good hitting Barons team.

But this was a team win and everyone contributed in some way. Every Giants player put the ball in play at least once. Christian hit a little nubber and got on by hustling to first. Owen drove in a couple runs on a hard hit grounder with the bags full. Caleb got a clutch hit to LF to drive in a crucial run, Dylan smashed a hard single to RF to drive in a run, Jon and Ellis both hit triples, and a few Giants ROE by forcing the defense to make a play.

Defensively, Ellis shagged two fly balls on the run in the OF, Jon and Owen connected to catch a Barons runner napping at 1B, Henry put down a nice tag at 3B to end a rally, Lucas and Javi made 6-3 outs look routine, Caleb made two nice plays at 2B, Lucas cradled an IF popup, and Javi caught a sharp line drive comebacker to the mound to end the game.
