Giants Notes:
There were more walks than strikeouts on both sides in this one, and several playable fly balls that dropped for ensuing multi-run plays. This wasn’t the prettiest game loyal Chabot fans have seen, but there were moments of quality baseball and positive takeaways throughout. Caleb got a last minute start on the mound and threw an efficient 14-pitch inning like a champ, helped by Christian shagging a popup to CF and Lucas making a nice 6-3 play at SS. Steady bullpen catcher Nate saw his first action behind the plate in a game this year. Christian made his second appearance of the season as pitcher. Ellis and Jonny were vocal shortstops and both caught multiple popups to SS. Jonny and Dylan smashed triples in the gap. Henry knocked in a run with a beautiful sacrifice bunt. Owen caught a fly ball to RF with ease and later threw out a runner from the mound who attempted to delay steal third. Javi shut down the bottom of the 5th facing 4 batters to keep it within one. But after two quick strikeouts to start the 6th, the Giants hit a hard line drive on the screws to CF that the Larks outfielder nestled in for the final out. And that was the ballgame.
