Larks Notes: No notesGiants Notes: The Giants jumped to an 8-0 lead early and then let the lead evaporate in late innings but managed to hold on to win a close one, 10-9.
The Giants bats were hot early. Caleb collected his first 2 hits of the season with a couple of ropes to LF, knocking in 2 runs and scoring 2 more. Dylan drove in 2 runs of his own when he smashed an opposite field single down the line. Owen drilled a hard ground ball too hot for the Larks 2B to handle. Jon knocked 3 pitches into the OF grass for hits. And Ellis hit one on the screws that sizzled into the outfield but right into the Larks CF glove.
Although the Giants made 3 defensive errors, they remained focused and made a good amount of plays on the field. Owen nabbed a hard grounder to 3B and threw out the lead runner on a routine 5-4 fielder's choice like a pro. Jonny, Lucas, and Javi each secured moonshot popups in the IF, and Owen threw out a Larks baserunner from LF trying to advance home, helped by a nifty catch and tag by Javi at home.
Special thanks to replacement pool player Nico of the Sea Lions who joined the shorthanded Larks today to make this game possible. |
