| Team Summaries | Issaquah Notes: Mercer Island 4-4-3-1- 12 Issaquah 4-3-1-3- 11 Third straight one goal game for the boys in purple and gold as the fans were treated to another great back and forth affair. Issaquah started hot up 2-0 early before Mercer rattled off 4 unanswered, but Issaquah scored at the buzzer to tie it back up at the end of the first. Issaquah again pushed to a two goal advantage at 7-5 before again the Islanders went on a run to lead 8-7 at half. It appeared Mercer had taken solid control of the game in dominating the 3rd quarter and staking to an 11-7 lead. But Issaquah closed with a goal and a stop to carry momentum to the 4th. Morton to Bloch for a man-up tally made it 11-10 with 6 minutes to play. Both defenses stood tough and Mercer grinded clock, eventually going back up two with just 2 minutes to play. Out of timeout with 1:30 left, Michael Hyde found Cale Gunter to cut it back to one. With 30 seconds left, Issaquah doubling and the cage empty, Mercer appeared to have put the game away, but the empty net attempt hit pipe and Issaquah had one last rush. The scrambled clear earned Issaquah an okay look but the shot sailed well high with just seconds on the clock and Mercer held. Mercer Island Notes: |
