Team Summaries Marlins Notes:
The Fish were slow out of the gates, perhaps a bit rusty from their 10-day layoff, but they were able to pull through just in the nick of time. Despite Thomas M. only giving up a couple of hits in his 4 innings of work, untimely errors led to 4 runs for the feisty Twins. A huge smash from Zach S. followed by a infield single by Thomas M. led to the first Marlin run. But a great heads-up play by the Twins first baseman nailed the hustling Larry A. at home on a bang-bang play. That run was given back in the top of the 5th, but the Fish finally got their bats going and scored 4 runs to tie the ballgame. After a scoreless top of the 6th, Chris K. led off the inning with a chopper in the hole on the left side and was able to take an extra base. Next up - the Fish behind the Dish - Baron A. hit a shot off the left-field fence to drive in Chris and give the Marlins their first lead of the afternoon. Knowing one run would probably not be enough, the Marlins ran the squeeze and nailed it to perfection, with Matt K laying down the bunt and pinch-runner Forrest A. scoring the insurance run. That extra run would prove big, as the Twins displayed their heart and put up 2 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the ballgame once again. But in the end, the Marlins would prevail. A leadoff single by Chris K. would start the 8th inning. A stolen base and wild pitch later, the winning run stood 80 feet away. After a walk to Baron A., Matt K. stood at the plate with a chance to send the Fish to the Championship Series against the Rockies. Just needing to put the ball in play past the drawn in infield, Matt sent a fly ball to center field that was just deep enough to bring Chris home and move the Marlins 2 victories from their first TOC bid in 3 years. An outstanding relief performance from Chris K helped keep the Marlins in the ballgame.

Special kudos to the Twins who had an amazing run through the playoffs and played a heck of a game today. Great game Twins!
