Team Summaries Pelicans Notes:
Two weeks off, the weeklong threat of rain and an umpiring crew still working on Daylight Savings time couldn't stop the Angels and Pelicans from meeting on a beautiful Saturday morning for game 5 of this young Sr American season.

The Pels gave the ball to Tika, his first start of the year. Tika seemed to go 3 balls on every batter, but when it counted he came through with clutch pitches. Tika struck out 10 and forced a number of Angels into swings they didn't want to take.

The Pelican defense followed the lead of their pitching, making plays when it counted. Twig picked several balls out of the dirt at first, including 2 consecutive in the 2nd inning. In the third, after the Angels had loaded the bases, Scooter turned a routine fly out into a close play at the plate with a great throw. The run scored, but Elmer gunned down the trailing runner at third - thanks to a great tag from SpecialK.

Tika made the save of the game - running almost to Bushrod to catch a tailing fly ball in the 7th.

At the plate, it was a team effort. Elmer with 2 triples; Twig and Mario with a couple hits and WaylinH contributing with an RBI single in his first at bat of the season (Welcome Waylin!)

Angels Notes:
The Angels were back in action after giving the Astros all they could handle prior to the break; the upstart young bunch seemed ready for the other leaders of the South.

The break proved to be too much rust to work off and the Pelicans prevailed 10-5. The game was highlighted with a tremendous grab of a line shot by Jordan E. who quickly threw to Noah N. to end the first scoring threat of the day for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans then built a 10-1 lead and the hard charging Angels closed the score to 10-5, had the bases loaded with no outs in the 7th. Michael K. then came on to close the game for the Pelicans.

For the Angels Zander Y. and Isaac Y. each had 2 hits and an rbi. Arafat A. drove in his first run of the year and made a fine defensive play at second base.
