Team Summaries Mets Notes:
Fresh off an exhilarating one run victory in their season opener, the Mets came to yard on Sunday with hopes of grabbing the early lead in the race for the North title. The Marlins, though, had other ideas as not only were they fresh off an opening day victory as well but they also had the much anticipated pitching debut of Thomas M. on their hands. Young Ricky N. took the mound for the Mets and gave them 3 very workmen like innings. But a few Mets miscues in the field and some timely hitting on the part of the Marlins allowed for the Marlins to build a 10-3 lead through 4 innings. The Mets called on Ryan W. to come in and stop the bleeding and the change of pace was just what the Mets were looking for as the defense came alive, highlighted by Willy E. unassisted double-play at 1st base. While Ryan W. began to put zeros on the scoreboard, his teammates, as they had against the Red Sox, were working deep into the counts and were finally able to get into the Marlin bullpen. Scott B. & Mitchell M. would spark a furious Mets comeback as Mitchell laid down a beautiful bunt to move the runners over and Scotty B cashed them in, smashing a 2-RBI single. But the Mets still found themselves down 10-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Battling the setting sun and the Marlins top pitcher, Thomas M. who had come back into the game to try shut the door, the scrappy Mets loaded the bases and scored 3 runs on hits by Mitchell M and Willy E. With 2 outs and Willy E. stuck at 3rd base, the Mets rolled the dice and Willy’s dramatic steal of home tied the contest at 10 – 10, just before the game was called on account of darkness

Marlins win 12-10 in 9 innings.

Marlins Notes:
For the second day in a row, the Marlins put up a double digit run total. The offensive surge was led by Jobu, with 3 RBI, and Aaron L, who was 2 for 3 and 2 runs scored. As a result of the 10 runs from both squads, there was not enough daylight to complete this game. To be concluded...

FINALLY! After a scoreless 8th inning, the Fish were able to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out and their clean-up hitter Jobu at the plate. But instead of hitting the storybook 3-run homer, Jobu came through with a picture-perfect bunt to execute the suicide squeeze and score the eventual winning run. Thomas M. pitched the 8th and 9th innings for the W.
