Mariners Notes: No notesPelicans Notes: The Pels complete an opening weekend sweep with a 10-2 victory over the Mariners. The game was much closer than the final score indicated - the Mariners had one inning get away from them and the Pels took advantage to close the deal.
Elmer pitched 4 strong, allowing 2 hits and no runs. Tika and Big Easy split the final 3, keeping the Mariners on their heels for the most part.
At the plate, the Pels put up crooked numbers in 3 frames; the highlight was a 3-run burst in the second with all the action coming after two were out. There were no standout hitting stars, although Twig smacked two linedrive singles and Sheila's hit in the 7th sparked a mini-rally that closed the scoring.
The Mariners put a lot of balls in play, and the Pelican defense was usually up to the task, turning two DPs and completing several solid plays. Elmer and BullDog both made great catches on tough balls with runners on base. |
