Lugnuts Notes:
Solid pitching and defense were at the heart of the Lugnuts’ victory today. Kellen, Zach, and Elijah pitched shutdown innings, walking very few batters, and Quinn got the final three outs, defusing a rally by the hard-to-defeat Blue Rocks. This was a tight, well-played game, with few steals by either side. The Blue Rocks’ defense was generally “rock”-solid, which meant that the Lugnuts needed to hit it to the outfield to put runs over. Many Lugnuts up and down the lineup delivered the goods, with EJ contributing a ground-rule double on a ball that was smacked so hard that it almost made it to the reservoir.
