Diamondbacks  Notes:
What a fun game to watch for the D-Back parents this Wednesday night at Caldecott Field. All of the D-back parents remained calm, cool and collected throughout this one-run thriller.

Game highlights go to the entire D-Back team. Not one fielding error during the game. Not one catch-able ball hit to the outfield was dropped. Playing outfield Carl caught 2 long flies with Malcolm and Adam also running down fly balls. Infield pop-ups were caught by John, Jake, Bobby and Noah. Joaquin was the iron-man behind the plate on this very hot evening.

On offence Daniel blasted his second home run in two straight games and followed up on his next at bat with a triple, adding 4 RBI’s to his season total. Carl and Joaquin each went 3 for 3 at the plate. Mac, Joaquin and Jack each hit a double against tough pitching. Contributing two RBI’s each were Carl, Joaquin and Jack.

Pitching, Jack was on target recording 3 strikeouts in 3 innings and no runs allowed. His three-inning pitch count was 30 with 26 throws to the plate being strikes. Jake came into the game in relief in the 4th with the bases loaded and together the D-Backs defense ended the RiverCats rally. Jake recorded 4 strikeouts in 3 innings of work, coming through for the team in a difficult relief spot.

The end of the game was one of those plays that you remember for a while and could have gone either way. With D-Backs holding onto a slim two run lead and the bases loaded in the last at-bat for the home team RiverCats, the batter hit a line drive shot to left-center field. Adam playing center field cleanly fielded this hard hit ball and quickly relayed the ball to Jack at shortstop who was standing a few feet on the outfield grass. One run had scored and with the tying run bearing down on home plate Jack threw a bullet to Joaquin at home. Joaquin caught the ball cleanly and went for the tag. The runner slid, raising a cloud of dust. The umpire emerged from the cloud with his right hand and thumb extended upward, calling the runner out and securing the one run victory for the D-Backs.
