Diamondbacks  Notes:
Trench warfare would describe this game. Our pitchers were pitching out of a five-inch hole on a flat pitching surface. The game started late due to the preceding game. The weather was cold. At the end of the game the D-Backs were batting under the lights for the first time with the two light poles facing home plate burned out, but the D-Backs remained focused and were able to record another “W”.
Defensive and pitching highlights in this chilly game included John taking over pitching in the first inning and tossing two and a half innings. John’s reflex catch of a rocket line drive with the bases loaded in the 2nd to end the inning was the turning point in the game. Adam continues to make running catches that could easily fall into the gap. Jake pitched the last three innings in very cold conditions and was able to remain focused even as he fell into an ankle turning trench in front of the pitching rubber. Also, Malcolm made a great catch on a hot line drive at shortstop in an almost error-free defensive game.
On offense, the D-Backs bats recorded 15 hits. This is the third game in a row with 15 or more team hits. Mac hit his second double in two games. Joaquin remains on a hitting streak going 3 for 4. There were two hits each for Adam, Jake, Carl and Jack. Recording three RBI’s each were Joaquin, Adam, Bobby and Jake. Daniel, John and Mac each recorded two RBI’s.
