| Game Summary | In their AAA openers, the Cannons and Astros exchanged leads in a see-saw match. The Cannons broke out on top 3-0 in the first, but by the fifth, the Astros had a 9-6 lead. Then the Cannons scratched back with a series of hits and aggressive baserunning, tying the score. Only a great back-handed stab by Astros' third baseman Zack Smith with two outs and two on snuffed the Cannons rally. The Astros Jacob Southworth drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth, and advanced to third on a steal and a wild pitch. Trevor Fehr got the game-winning RBI, in addition to an earlier double, with a grounder to second. Astros highlights included four RBI by Zack Smith, anmd four strikeouts each by three Astros pitchers in their league debuts: Kristian Clemens, Andy Carlson and Henry Flatt. Flatt also had two timely hits and was the winning pitcher. |
