Game Summary | The Grays advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the Redwings 9 to 1. The early part of the game featured tight, quick-paced baseball with solid defense by both teams. The Grays opened up a lead thanks to RBIs and opportunistic baserunning by Joey Moreira, Alejandro Wlassowsky, and Willie Devaney. The Redwings' bats heated up late in the game with Nick Piucci hitting a drive to left field. Solid play by Grays outfielders, including Chris Lee, kept Redwings hitters from getting into scoring position. The Grays' hopes for their first-ever shutout were smashed by Davey Dickler's soaring shot out of the park, which was autographed and handed back to Dickler by Negro League veteran Ben Hodges. |
