| Game Summary | In a fast paced, pitching and defense dominated game, the Crawfords defeated the Rockhounds 5-3 in only 2 hours on Saturday morning at OAB. The Crawfords jumped out to a 2-1 lead after 1 inning, which remained the score for the first three innings as both teams were held scoreless by utstanding pitching and fielding, including an assisted double play by the Crawfords' Jared. In the fourth inning, the teams rallied each adding 2 runs taking a 4-3 game into the fifth. The Crawfords added an insurance run in the top of the fifth and then held on for the 5-3 victory by shutting the Rockhounds down in two tense final innings. The Crawfords shut down the normally raucous Rockhounds' bats with their strong pitching performances. The Rockhounds were led by strong pitching performances by Peter Baldwin, Jesse Wheaton and Henry Zaballos. Zaballos also contributed a triple with a sharp line drive down the first base line that reached the fence, while Wheaton collected two of the three Rockhounds' RBIs. A great game of real baseball that demonstrated the improvement being made by both teams! |
