Game Summary | The Lookouts posted their first shutout of the year in a hard fought 8-0 victory over the Timber Rattlers on Friday, May 16. This makeup game was closer than the score suggests. The Lookouts leapt to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, added two in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth. The crisp Lookouts pitching only allowed four base runners, and the strong fielding erased several potential threats. For the Lookouts, Evan Williams pitched the first three innings, holding the Timber Rattlers scoreless on one hit (no walks), while striking out 7, throwing only 44 pitches. Jason Lee finished the game for the Lookouts with three outstanding innings, one hit, one walk, striking out four, also needing only 44 pitches. The Lookouts posted 7 hits, with Lee Malmgren leading the way at 2-3, with 2 RBI. David Brown and Jason Lee each scored two runs. The Timber Rattlers offense was frustrated by several excellent Lookouts fielding plays, including a fine 8-4-5 tag out (Timesh Dhanji-David Brown-Jason Lee) on a Timber Rattler attempting to stretch a double to the center field fence into a triple. Eric Collin made an excellent into-the-evening sun center field catch to prevent any thoughts of a Timber Rattler late inning rally. |
