Game Summary The Cats extended their winning streak April 6, defeating the Hammerheads 21-3 and maintaining their position atop the AA standings with a 6-0 record. In the first inning the Cats sent 17 batters to the plate and scored 11 times; eight of the runs came after two outs.
The top hitter for the Cats was Gabriel D'Ambrosio, who slugged three extra-base hits and drove in five runs while scoring three times. Each of D'Ambrosio's hits reached the outfield fence as he homered once and tripled twice. Tori Burns had four hits, including a three-run double, and drove in four Cats. Burns also pitched two shutout innings, striking out three Hammerheads and allowing just one hit. Galen Emigh was just a homer short of hitting for the cycle; he drove in three runs and made all three putouts at first in the final inning.
Alex Levine struck out three batters in his one inning on the mound, and singled twice, scored twice, and drove in two. Thirdbaseman-outfielder Daniel Bolaños walked and scored a run. Joshua Barza made the play of the game on defense: From right-centerfield, he threw out a runner at first base. Barza also had two hits, two runs, and a run batted in.
