Game Summary The AA Cats won their second game of the season, defeating the Desert Dogs 12-6 on the strength of an amazing fifth inning. Trailing 6-0 after four-and-a-half frames, the 'Rally Cats' sent 16 boys and girls to the plate in their half of the fifth. The inning began with a strikeout, but the next 12 batters scored.
The Cats slugger was again Gabriel D'Ambrosio, who had two hits in the big inning, a double and his second inside-the-park grand slam of the season. Tyler Lear and Tori Burns each drove in two runs with doubles.
Nick Regent, Joshua Barza, and Lear also had two hits in the game.
D'Ambrosio pitched two shutout innings and Luke Bowyer appeared twice in relief to extinguish Desert Dogs rallies. Burns and Alex Sommer also pitched. The Cats demonstrated their fine fielding skills as Sommer neatly gloved a comebacker to the mound and threw home to force a runner at the plate.
The Desert Dogs were led by strong pitching from Harry Sharp and John Tierney, and their offensive highlight was a bases loaded double by Luke Davis.
