Team Summaries | Royals Notes: Royals 1, Yankees 7 On beautiful day at the new Chabot Park the Yankees and Royals played the second game at the new ballpark. The Yankees led by their big right-hander, Thomas M. opened the first with 2 runs. The Royals threatened in the bottom half of the first but Thomas M. stiffened and struck out 11 of the next 13 Royals, allowing only one run. Thomas M. also powered a high monster of a drive deep over the right centerfield fence giving the Yankees a commanding 4-1 lead. Matt K. pitched the last two innings of scoreless relief. For the Royals, Zander Y. pitched well in a losing cause striking out 7 in 4 plus innings of work. For the Royals, Tommy O'M. had 2 hits and threw two runners out from center field.
