Game Summary The Angels needed back to back doubles in the bottom of the sixth to hold off the Giants, 5-4, in a well-played opener on Sunday. Ricky Normington started for the Angels and pitched four strong innings, giving up only two runs and striking out nine. But the Giants wouldn't go away, chipping away at the Angels' lead with single runs in the third through sixth innings, tying it up in dramatic fashion when Matthew Kohlede doubled in Christian Halstenrud with two outs in the top of the sixth. But in the bottom of the inning, Adam Ballard doubled on the first pitch to left center, and Joey Demeter followed that up with a double to deep left to plate Ballard with the winning run. The Angels' runs were scored by Ballard (2), Ian McArdle (2), and John Williams, and Ballard, Demeter and Crocker each had a pair of hits.
