Team Summaries Muckdogs Notes:
A hot Sunday afternoon at Reservoir set the stage for a Doggie showdown between the Hounds and the Dogs. The Hounds had a hot start against Jackson K on the hill (although he did settle down and kept them in check) and the Dogs had a slow offensive start. After 3 it was looking like a done deal as the Hounds led 9-1. The Muckdogs have a mean fight in them and were not about to give up as they rallied for 5 in the 4th. After 5 it was 11-7 with the momentum was in the Dogs favor and 2 minutes past the 2 hour mark. Game Over.

Game ball to Max W for catching and positive mojo!

Rockhounds Notes:
The Rockhounds had a great all round game today. Our hitting came alive as we starting swinging at strikes. Our pitching was great for 4 out of the 5 innings with Aidan, Marco & Max all having solid outings. Our DEFENSE was GREAT with 3 fly ball catches.

Liam in the early innings made a great catch in left field for the third out with runners in scoring position. He had a smile all the way across his face when he ran in.

Johnny had a classic “down” then “up” day that makes us renew our belief in perseverance and reminds us all why we love sports so much. Johnny struggled mightily on the mound in the 4th and gave up a lot of walks that helped lead to a 5 max run inning for the Muckdogs. Some kids may have checked out for the day after that kind of experience. Not Johnny. Playing first in the bottom of the 5th he caught two pop ups to seal the win. After the first catch he ended up sprawled on the ground and we were all amazed that he held on to the ball! After catching another pop up for the final out he had a huge smile on his face as he ran off the field. What a rebound!

The player who deserves special mention however is Max. Max had a phenomenal day! He had the best all round day of any Rockhound this season. He started out in the 1st with a home run and 3 RBI’s. In the 3rd he had another smash for a triple and an RBI. In the fifth he led off with a single. He finished his great day by pitching in the bottom of the 5th and closing the door in 14 pitches. Too bad he didn’t get one more chance to try for a double.

Without a doubt the Rockhounds played one of their most solid and steady games today. We had 13 hits versus receiving only 4 walks and we scored in every inning. Hopefully we can keep playing at this level.
