Islanders Notes:
The Islanders go young today, with three more players taking the mound for the first time in their competitive careers! Team Haka seemed to sense the urgency in a good start, and put 5 on the board in the top of the first. Roller Coaster and Blanco capped the rally with run scoring singles.

Bruiser was the first of the new crew, and she looked like an old pro as she navigated the first inning. Rule #1 - let the defense work for you! Mumbles caught a fly in center and Wubba threw out a potential base thief at third.

Jumbo was next. Rule #2 - help yourself! He caught a Star attempting a delayed steal at home and struck out the final batter with a wicked low fastball.

BoomBoom was the last of the new crew. Rule #3 - Stay calm. Altho his defense kicked a couple balls and he plunked a few batters, he kept things simple, throwing first pitch strikes to more than half his batters. Like the new pitchers before him, BoomBoom was involved in a caught stealing, this time taking a quick throw from RollerCoaster and dropping a tag at home.

Tomato, Doctor and 'Duke alternated with the new crew and allowed just a single run between them.

In a game that featured 24 runs, the most exciting (for Team Haka) was definitely the last. Freshly empowered by her earlier pitching, Bruiser laced a 2 out double to right to score Mumbles and take a lead in the top of the 6th.

The Stars and Islanders have now played 2 games and the aggregate is 21-20. Can't wait for a playoff matchup!
