Islanders Notes:
Midseason baseball alert! The Rockhounds and Islanders were both ready for action today. The 'Hounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second, scoring 1 run on a fielder's choice and 2 more on an overthrow at first base.

The Islanders would allow just 1 run the rest of the day on a towering fly ball to left center. Wubba threw 2 innings of shut down baseball and Mumbles got threw the 5th.

Team Haka broke thru for a single run in the fourth when 'Duke bombed a ground rule double all the way to the Reservoir in right center. Another two more in the 5th on an infield single and BoomBoom's sacrifice to third.

Down one in the top of the 6th, Jumbo led off with a 4 pitch walk and stole his way to third before scoring on Duke's sacrifice to first.

At this point, the game was over the time limit, so the bottom of the 6th would decide it. Duke took the mound and traded walks and Ks. After 5 batters, it was bases loaded, 2 outs and the 6th Rockhound would be the last batter of the game. On the first pitch, he hit a line drive ticketed for left center, but Lai at short stepped calmly to her right and brought it in with 2 hands to preserve the tie.

The Islanders are already looking forward to the rematch in May!
