Scorpions Notes: No notesCanadians Notes: Canadians play the first of two this weekend, tilting against the Scorpions.
The defense played 5 great innings, altho 6 were on the docket. Slinky opened with 2 strong in just 43 pitches, a single run scoring on a poor backpick throw. The third inning was the forgettable one; Condor struggled thru 2 significant errors behind him and the Scorpions ended up plating 5. In the fourth, Teddy Bear came in to a bases loaded no out jam and almost got out of it. He struck out the first batter looking and got a lineout to Condor at first on the next pitch. The Scorpions snuck home 2 runs before another strikeout ended the inning. Fingers closed with some help from Slinky who had a fabulous scoop at first base.
As strong as the pitching was, the Canadians' pure maple lumber was the story. A passive 1st and 6th sandwiched the offensive fireworks - 5, 3, 4 and 4 in the middle innings. There were ground rule doubles into, through or ricocheting off the trees by Grandpa (twice), Condor, Ginsu, Slinky and Marshmallow. Ginsu added a basketball court home run to left and Houdini got his first 2 hits of the season - a 12-foot par saving roller up the line and a more traditional single to center. When all was said and done, every Canadian scored at least a run!
