Team Summaries	Issaquah JV Notes: No notes Mercer Island JV Notes: Both Issaquah and the Islanders were up for this one. The first quarter was very competitive, yet low-scoring. Each team took quality shots and played very disciplined defense. Following the end of the first period an Issaquah player was assessed a 3-minute nonreleasable penalty for a stick violation. The Islanders used the extra man to their advantage, scoring 3 times (and another 3 during the period). This proved to be the turning point. A discussion with the officials at halftime proved valuable as Issaquah's coaching staff sought clarification of the stick rule, which allowed both coaches and officials to determine that the questioned stick was indeed legal. The second half was quite fast-paced, but the Islanders' defense was able to hold Issaquah to fewer shots while maintaining a lead. The game showed that both programs have quality youth and depth to their varsity-feeder programs. We look forward to many competitive games in the future with Issaquah.
