Cubbies Notes:
The Cubs bats exploded for the second day in a row, showcasing the true offensive potential of this team, in a three hour, forty five minute slugfest against the D-Backs. 'Hollywood' (Chris O.F.) lead everyone, going 6-6 with 5 runs, 6 RBI's, two doubles and a triple. 'L-Train' (Dave L) went 3-6 with 3 runs, 6 RBI's, two doubles, a sac fly and even stole home on a wild pitch. Jonah M. and Jon S. had excellent games, scoring three runs each. Matt P. broke out of his slump, going 4-5 with 4 runs and 2 RBI's. 'Scoop' (Jackson R.) had one of his best days at the plate, going 3-6 with two runs and two RBI's.

Going into the top of the 5th, the Cubs found themselves down 12-3, but decided to unleash the fury and score 9 runs in the 5th, 5 in the 6th and 8 in the 7th. Every one of those runs were needed as the D-Backs scored in every inning.

Despite the high score, the Cubs infield defense was excellent again, especially on the left side with Jonah M. and Matt D. at 3rd and 'Scoop' at shortstop. John 'The Thrill' M. made an unbelieveable sliding catch in the 5th, battling the sun, to keep the damage in that inning to a minimum. The Thrill then came in to pitch in the bottom of the seventh, giving up four runs on a few untimely walks and a hit-batmen, but then struck out Gabe L. on three pitches to end the game.

An epic game overall with many storylines...

The Cubs will try to stay hot this Saturday night with their annual night game against the Marlins at Willard... always a fan favorite.
