Team Summaries Mets Notes:
After a two week hiatus, baseball returned to Willard to find an interdivision battle between two pitching aces. J.D. P. and Alex C. took the mound for the Mets and Padres, respectively, and the pitching performances did not disappoint, with the Mets pulling away from the Padres to win 6-2. With runs at a premium, defense took centerstage to begin the contest highlighted by Mets left fielder William B-T.'s stab of a first inning line drive. When runners did get on base for the Padres, catcher Kevin C. helped to curb the rising tide by throwing out 2 runners on the day. Even with stellar defense from the Mets, the Padres took the early 1-0 lead. With Alex C. keeping the Mets off balance early on with a zinging fastball, the Mets turned to Zach K. who answered the call, delivering a 2 RBI double in the 3rd to put the Mets up for good. Ryan W. followed with a sharp RBI single to right, the first of 3 hits and 4 RBI's on the day for Ryan as he paced the Mets offensively. But this day would once again belong to JD P., striking out the side in the seventh and walking off with 13 K's on the day.
