Reds Notes:
Starting at 6 pm on beautiful Witter Field in Piedmont, the Reds were hoping to get a win in order to get a bye in the first round of the tournament. They got off to a fast start, scoring 4 runs in the first inning, but the Pelicans tied it up over the next two innings. Michael Traylor's bunt single in the top of the third led to great things that inning: 8 hits, 8 runs, Tim Mock's 2-run homerun, plus 2 more RBI's in the inning. Final score was Reds 13, Pelicans 8. But the score wasn't that close, as Bobby Thompson and Tim Mock shut down the Pelicans offense for 4 innings, allowing only 1 hit. By the time the Pelicans scored (4 runs in the 7th inning), the conclusion was not in doubt. One more game against the Astros, and then onto the playoffs on June 4th.
