| Team Summaries | Mets Notes: Kevin C. pitched 5 workman like innings, scattering 6 hits and striking out 8 and Ryan W. earned the save by recording the last 6 outs of the game as the Mets staved off the D-Backs , 11-9, in an exciting see-saw battle at Willard. The D-Backs broke out on top first as they took the early 1 -0 lead in the 2nd. The Mets answered with 2 of their own in the bottom of the inning as Kevin helped his own cause with an RBI single. The D-Backs grabbed the lead right back with 2 more in the 3rd but the Mets delivered 3 runs in their half of the 3rd, highlighted by Ryan's 2-out 2RBI single to right. William Barry K. continued his stellar defense at 2nd base with a diving stop and put out from his knees to help blank the Snakes in the 4th. The D-Backs would not be denied and took the lead for the third time in the contest as they plated 3 runs in the 5th. But as has been the case with these fiesty Mets, they answered the call sending 11 men to plate and scoring 5. Luke G kept the inning alive with a bases-loaded 2 out single and Zach K. broke the game open as he followed with a 2RBI double. The D-Backs would scratch out 3 more runs over the final 2 innings but the Mets would add one more insurance run in the 6th as Daniel F. bunt down the 1st base line caught the Snakes off guard allowing JD P. to score from 2nd. Kris S. put the game away in top of the 7th as his snow cone grab in centerfield ended the comeback bid for the D-backs. Diamondbacks Notes: |
