Mets Notes:
In a tight low scoring game that saw spectacular defense and pitching from both sides, the Mets outlasted the Pelicans, 7-2, on the strength of a 4-run 6th inning that proved too much for the Pels to overcome. The Pelicans struck first with 2 runs in the top of the 2nd but the Mets countered with 3 of their own in the bottom of the inning as Ryan W., William 'Banks' T. and Kevin C. put together consecutive hits and Claire L. delivered an RBI. Both pitchers would continue to put up zeros through the 6th when the Mets broke it open, plating 4 runs as Zach K., Mick L., and Banks T. provided the key run scoring hits. On the mound for the Mets, Kevin C. delivered his most dominant performance of the year, pitching his first complete game on only 95 pitches. Kevin scattered 4 hits through 7 innings while striking out 11 and walking only 1. Liam D. called a beautiful game from behind the plate and kept the base runners honest as he threw out a Pelican base runner in the 4th. The Mets were led offensively by Banks T. who went 2 for 2 with a single, a double and 2RBI. Elliott G. also continued his recent hitting tear, delivering 2 hits and stolen base.
