Mets Notes:
The Mets were able to grab a game they desperately needed in order to build some momentum going into the playoffs. Using 5 pitchers over 7 innings, the Mets were able to keep the Cubs bats at bay as the 5-man staff allowed only 2 runs on the day. The pitching staff was helped tremendously by the Mets defense. Catcher Ryan W. kept the Cubbies runners honest by throwing 2 runners out on the day while the outfield play of William 'Banks' T. was outstanding as he made stellar grabs at all 3 outfield positions. Banksy T. also delivered 2 singles on the day, one of which scored Claire L. from 3rd base. Zach K. and Kris S. once again delivered the difference makers in the top of the 5th as Zach blasted a triple into deep left center field and Kris followed with the RBI single.
