Mets Notes:
In a riveting back and forth game that saw the lead change hands twice in the last 3 innings, the Mets held off a seventh inning 2 run rally to win 12-11. The Mets took an early 5-0 lead highlighted by a 1st inning homerun by Kris S. that landed in the Willard tennis courts. The Paw Sox clawed back to tie the game at 5-5 in the 4th and took a 9-6 lead in the 5th that held as the Mets headed into their visiting half of the 7th. After loading the bases in the sixth and coming away empty, the Mets scored 6 times in the 7th, highlighted again by Kris S., who ripped a bases-loaded 2 out triple to raise his RBI total for the day to 4. With Ryan W. on the mound in relief of Kevin C., the Mets entered the bottom half of the 7th leading 12-9. The Mets retired the first two Paw Sox to come to the plate but the Paw Sox mounted a furious 2 out comeback to pull to within 12-10 and the bases loaded. Daniel B. strode to the plate for the Paw Sox and ripped a shot that hit off the shin of Ryan W. Fortunately for the Mets, the ball stayed in the infield and limited the damage to one run. Unfortunately, the blast left Ryan doubled over in excruciating pain. In a very guttsy performance, Ryan W. shook off the injury and stayed in the game to strike out the next batter he faced to preserve the victory for the Mets.
