Team Summaries Pelicans Notes:
After watching several NOLL/SOLLers play in the Willard vs Head Royce game (including Bruiser who had an inter-league doubleheader), the Pels and Angels finished their season series on a remarkably warm evening!

The teams swapped runs in the first as ConnorF and Sarge each crushed RBI doubles to left.

Cornflake pitched the first 2 innings for the Pels on short notice and looked strong, allowing just one batter to get to a 3-ball count. With the score 3-1 Angels, Rhino came on in the third and extended his no-hit streak by 3 more innings.

Several Angels pitchers did a great job of keeping the Pels' offense off balance and in check. Every time the yellow and black mounted a rally, the Angels came up with a diving catch (AustinZ) or a double play (AlexL) to quiet things down again. The Pels persevered - scratching for one here and clawing for a couple there.

Going into the 6th, the Pels trailed by one. Tigger came on and struck out the side in the top half. Rhino launched a two-out double in the bottom half, plating Krusty. As Rhino sped around second, it was clear that only a perfect 7-6-5 relay could have stopped him from taking third on the play, and the Angels obliged, nailing him by a half step! Tigger went back to the bump in the 7th with the score tied, and proceeded to K two more batters, holding the Angels scoreless.

In the bottom of the 7th, Kirby led off, coaxed a walk and stole 2nd. With Sarge on deck, Cornflake laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third. Sarge took the box with an out and after working a 1-1 count, he got the suicide sign and responded. He dug a tough low and outside pitch out of the dirt and dumped it into fair territory - just enough to score Kirby and end the game in regulation.

A great game by two teams in midseason form, and here's hoping both continue to play well this weekend!
