| Team Summaries | DBacks Notes: OAKLAND, Ca. -- In a rematch of the first game of the season, the Diamondbacks hosted the Athletics in a friendly rivalry game. The DBacks were skippered by Bill “Grumpy” W. as head coach Brent “Pogo” was traveling afar in the land of mosquitoes. The outcome of the game would prove to be dictated by DBack pitching and defense. Sometimes anchored the DBack rotation pitching 5 innings, allowing just 1 run. After a single to the first batter of the game, Sometimes went on to retire 8 consecutive Athletics. After retiring the A’s in order in the top of the first, the DBacks’ offense got off to a quick start scoring 2 runs in their half of the inning. Rerun led off with a walk and promptly stole second. Wizard followed with a single. Bump then walked to load the bases. Old Spice then ripped a single knocking in the 2 runs. The DBacks added another run in the bottom of the 2nd inning when a double by Wizard plated Curvy, making it 3-0. The A’s scored runs in both the 5th & 6th innings to make it 3-2. Not content with a 1-run lead, the DBacks would score 2 in the bottom of the 6th for a 5-2 lead. Moose led off with a walk, but would later be forced out at third base. A hard shot by Wizard scored Curvy. Sometimes followed with a single that scored Rerun. Wizard was gunned out at the plate to end the DBack rally. Curvy pitched the 7th to save a 5-2 DBack win.
