| Game Summary | In the NOLL AAA tournament championship game, the Muckdogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Elan S (2-3) doubled off Osprey starter Gregory K to drive in Gavin L. But the Osprey soared back with 6 in the bottom of the first, with key hits from Jacob G (3-3), Blaine T (2-2, sac fly), Peter C (3-3), and Ben P. Muckdog CF Lucas F's strike to Catcher Jack D nabbed Clifton at the plate to end the inning. The Muckdogs scratched back into it over the next two innings, scoring 2 runs each in the 2nd and 3rd to make it 6-5, as Muckdog starter Graham B held the Osprey in check. Tom R, Leo F, Cyrus S, Lucas F, S, and Jack D all had key hits during the Muckdogs' rallies, as Osprey Axel B fought gamely on the mound to staunch the Muckdog's offense. The Osprey added one in the bottom of the third to go up 7-5. Then, in the top of the fourth, with Osprey Eamon B on the mound, the Osprey defense took over: SS Leo N caught a difficult pop-up in short left field. RF Ben P caught a high fly ball, and Broome's throw to 3B Ethan K caught a Muckdog on a delayed steal of 3rd. Muckdog pitcher Tom R got out a bases loaded jam in the 4th on a nice play by 2B Cyrus S.. In the top of the fifth, still 7-5, the Muckdogs Cyrus S and Jack P (single) reached base with nobody out. But with the tying runs on base, Osprey pitcher Leo N struck out the next three batters. In the bottom of fifth, the Osprey added three insurance runs for a 10-5 lead and although the Muckdogs loaded the bases in the top of the sixth, that's how an excellent game ended. |
