Pelicans Notes:
What a great day for baseball, and what a great game to be a part of. The two teams combined for nary a 'reached on error', with only rocket shots to first by the Mets and to third by the Pels coming close, and even then the defenders knocked the balls down.

The Pelicans eeked out a run in the top of the first on a couple singles and a bases loaded walk by Mexico - the first of 3 RBI he'd have on the day. The Mets answered back immediately. JakeA led off the 2nd by knocking a double over the Pels outfield. After grabbing the first out, Molasses ran out of pitches and Bar Mitzvah took over. He gave up an RBI single to Mets starter DarAmaniS, but stopped the bleeding after just one run.

The Mets would plate another lone run in the third; TrumanP singled, stole twice and came home on an unintentional safety squeeze by KaiH. The Mets led 2-1 at that point.

The Pels tied the score in the 4th on a single by Mo to drive in Rocky from second. The score stayed tied 2-2 as the pitchers traded great innings on the mound. KaiH came on in relief for the Mets in the 6th and left the bases loaded with Pelicans to quench a promising rally.

In the bottom of the 6th, Bar Mitzvah faced the heart of the Mets lineup, and gave up just an infield single. The Pels carried that momentum into the top of the 7th. With the bases loaded and 1 out, Mexico threw a Texas-leaguer out to shallow CF. Two runs scored, altho Mexico himself was caught by AndrewN stretching at second. The inning ended on a running catch by GabeS in CF.

Bar Mitvah took the mound for 1 more inning and closed it out with an efficient 7th.

The Pels pitchers walked zero, and only went to 3-ball-counts four times. The Pels offer defensive Kudos to Chester, who made play after play at secondbase. We were also glad to have Kirby back in the dugout sporting a handful of stitches and some good oldfashioned bloodstains on his jersey.
