Game Summary | Still feeling the sting from being shutout 2 games earlier, the Yankee bats continued their torrid hitting over the holiday weekend, outslugging the never say die Red Sox 24 - 10. Every Yankee reached base and scored in the first inning, and through 2 the Yankees had pounded out 12 hits and scored 17 runs. The Yankee pitching staff had a decidedly 2003 feel to it, as MattB, MatthewK, AlanB, and JamesS all pitched well to earn the victory. MattB struck out 5 in his 2 innings of work, MatthewK kept his era perfect for the season by working a scoreless 3rd inning, and AlanB made his Yankee pitching debut by surrendering only 1 run in the 4th. JamesS had to dig deep to escape the 5th inning, as the Red Sox scored 8 runs to mount a spirited comeback. JamesS came back himself, as he worked a perfect 6th inning, striking out the final batter of the game to nail down the victory. |
