| Team Summaries | Reds Notes: In a game that nobody deserved to lose it came down to which team was going to bat last. The Reds went into the 6th inning up by one run, left it down by one run. After the Cubbies added 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning the Reds came back in the bottom of the 7th inning and answered with 5 runs to snatch the victory over a solid Cubbie effort, 8-7. The 7th inning rally began with lead-off walk to Jon C., back to back one out triples by Kevin R. and Lucas F. Andrew C. reached on an error, Kenny P. delivered a clutch hit to bring the score to 7-6, Keith H. delivered his second big hit of the game driving in Andrew to tie the score. The stage was set for Ben Z who executed a squeeze bunt to end the contest and score Kenny with the winning run. The Reds offense was led by 3 hits from Lucas F. and 2 hits from both Keith H. and 'Z Man.' But the biggest hit of the day came from Keith H. who hit a tape measure shot into orbit over the RF's head for a solo Home Run in the 4th inning. Defensively, the Reds continued to battle. Two big catches in the OF were turned in by Andrew C. and Tim M. Also, the Z man threw players out while racing off the mound when pitching, runners attempting to advance while in CF, and from behind the plate when catching. Zorro's got nothing on the Reds Z! Hat's off to the Cubbies and the pitching of Greg M. and a solid defensive effort that was turned in by their squad. Cubbies Notes: |
