Team Summaries | Reds Notes: In a bizarre happening that left coaches, parents, and local police scratching their heads, the previously unbeaten Reds were kidnapped on their way to Willard Field Saturday night and replaced by look-alikes who committed more errors in one game than the real Reds had committed in the previous five games combined. The search for the real Reds continued into the early morning hours; coaches remained confident that they will be found in time for Sunday afternoon's contest with the PawSox. No kidnapping theories are needed to explain the Reds' lack of scoring punch against the Mission, however: the Big Red Machine simply ran into a dominating pitching performance from Rick R., who served up 7 innings of gas on a chilly Berkeley night. On the plus side for the Reds, the pitching duties were handled capably by a trio of rookies making their Seniors mound debuts: Tim M., Jon C., and Bobby T. all threw strikes and maintained their composure despite the horrors that unfolded behind them. The Reds look forward to regrouping today against the PawSox, with ace Kevin R. on the hill. Mission Notes: |
