Team Summaries | Angels Notes: In a game against the previously undefeated Mariners, the Angels - led by Tim J's great pitching through 6 innings and the sparkling infield defense of Eddie H. and solid team defense by all - held on for a 3-0 rain shortened win. Tim J. allowed just 2 hits against 23 batters, walked 1 and struck out 3, and started the scoring with a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the first. Jeff D. singled in a run and Eddie H. drove in another in the bottom of the second to give the Angels a 3-0 lead. Eddie H. had 2 hits; Tim J., Mike W., Mike M., Jeff D. each had one. The Mariners were led by Cormac C. who had 2 hits and Zach B. with a double; Harry S. pitched a strong game allowing the Angels only 6 hits. The game was called due to rain in the top of the 7th with the bases loaded, 2 outs and 3 runs in by the Mariners. This occurred after a controversial call at the plate on what appeared to be the final out of a would be 3-2 victory for the Angels. But to paraphrase John Madden, sometimes the best games are the ones that end with a little controversy. Mariners Notes: |
